It was pointed out to me that in my post yesterday, I didn’t make it clear whether or not the Dalai Lama was actually going to be in Albany in February. The quick response is: I don’t know.
According to the World Ethical Foundations Consortium’s Web site, the inaugural event is scheduled for Feb. 3-6. It would be at this time that the Dalai Lama would show up. However, according to Bob VanAmburgh in the Albany mayor’s office, there is no definite date set for the event, which the city would obviously have to help coordinate.I have reached out to the organizers of the WEFC through their Web site, and I have reached out to the Dalai Lama’s people, as well.
Hearing from either will surprise the hell out of me, but I’ll report it if I do. In the meantime, enjoy this classic, offensive, and biased take on the Dalai Lama, courtesy of Penn and Teller.
But is the Dalai Lama Coming to Town?
