I was upset at the accusation made against Frank R. Parlato Jr. in the Nov. 30 News. We should be praising him, not criticizing.
I think it’s only fair to the public that they have the opportunity to see the truth on how Parlato Real Estate does business. The doors are open to anyone regardless of race or income level, and those very same people who walk through Parlato’s door would not be as welcome at some other real estate offices.
Parlato has been accused of selling homes to unqualified buyers. But he doesn’t decide who is granted a loan — the banks do.
The article also said that 25 percent of the homes he sold in the city went into foreclosure. Well, how about the other 75 percent? Those people are still in their homes. Parlato has brought the city that much closer to being filled with homeowners and not absentee landlords.
When people buy a home, they don’t intend to lose it to foreclosure. It’s an unfortunate situation, and I believe the economy is to blame. Every person deserves a chance to buy a house and live the American dream.
